Haryana Finalizes Gurugram Civic Overhaul Plan With Tough Enforcement and 2028 Sewage Targets

Overview

  • The plan was finalized after a six-day review in Gurugram led by chief principal secretary Rajesh Khullar, following consultations with residents, RWAs and civic groups.
  • Immediate waste enforcement orders include seizing and prosecuting trucks bringing garbage from outside the city, monitoring dumping hotspots, and holding SHOs responsible for stopping open burning.
  • To curb power-related accidents during rains, police were directed to register FIRs against the responsible JE, SDO or XEN, all Power Department leave was canceled through November, and field inspections with tree trimming were mandated.
  • GMDA’s drainage proposal calls for linking major stormwater drains to the Najafgarh drain to reduce monsoon waterlogging.
  • Sewage treatment capacity is targeted to rise from 408 MLD to 950 MLD by 2028 through new or upgraded plants at Bajghera, Dhanwapur, Behrampur, and Sectors 78 and 107.
