Overview

  • An order by the Haryana home department halted mobile data, bulk SMS and dongle services in Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri from 11 am Tuesday to 11 am Thursday, with voice calls and broadband allowed to curb rumour-driven unrest.
  • Investigators said a handwritten note recovered near the body was matched by handwriting experts, CCTV and seller records showed Manisha bought insecticide for about Rs 600, and FSL viscera tests detected insecticide.
  • Two autopsies, including at PGIMS Rohtak, reported lacerations with a scavenger ‘gnawing’ effect, missing facial and neck tissue, no cut on the throat and no sexual assault.
  • The family has rejected the suicide finding and refused cremation, as protests, marches and panchayats spread to Bhiwani, Hisar, Fatehabad and Jind with calls for accountability.
  • Earlier steps included the transfer of the Bhiwani SP and suspension of five police personnel, an FIR under murder provisions, and growing opposition demands for a CBI investigation.
