Overview
- Nayab Singh Saini said the BJP would form the government in Punjab after the 2027 Assembly polls and make the state a leading one under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
- He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party won power on false promises and has failed on jobs, welfare and tackling drug abuse four years into its term.
- Saini promoted Haryana’s record as the template for Punjab, citing subsidised LPG cylinders at Rs 500, Rs 2,100 monthly payments to women under the Lado Lakshmi Scheme and a senior citizens’ pension of Rs 3,200.
- He further claimed his government issued appointment letters to 25,000 youths and procures all crops at the minimum support price, positioning these as deliverables the BJP would mirror in Punjab.
- The remarks, which included calling AAP “more corrupt than the Congress” and referencing jailed AAP legislators, were delivered on January 4 at the Ghanaur grain market in Patiala district near the Haryana–Punjab border.
