Overview
- The cabinet approved the Deen Dayal Laado Laxmi Yojana on August 28, with rollout on September 25, and the chief minister framed it as a fulfilled poll pledge in contrast to Punjab’s unimplemented promise.
- Women aged 23 and above are eligible, with the first phase limited to families earning under Rs 1 lakh a year and an estimated 17–20 lakh beneficiaries.
- Applicants must meet a 15-year Haryana domicile test for the woman or, if married, her husband, and there is no cap on the number of eligible women per household.
- Women already receiving higher benefits under nine listed social-security schemes are excluded, though those with stage III/IV cancer, one of 54 rare diseases, haemophilia, thalassemia or sickle cell disease can receive this benefit in addition to their pensions.
- The state has earmarked about Rs 5,000 crore for the first phase, plans registration via a dedicated app and SMS outreach, will publish ward- and panchayat-level lists for objections, and will pay via direct benefit transfer.
