Hartlepool Council begins distributing £1.75m cost of living support

The council is targeting vulnerable households with vouchers, cash payments alongside third-sector grants through April 2026

Overview

  • £742,700 has been allocated for £100 food vouchers for children aged 2–19 on free school meals
  • £440,800 will fund £100 payments or equivalent food vouchers for pensioners receiving Local Council Tax Support
  • A £226,000 application fund will assist residents who can demonstrate financial hardship but lack other support options
  • Grants totalling £220,000 will back Hartlepool Food Bank, Citizens Advice Bureau and Advice at Hart in providing food parcels and energy bill advice
  • Council leader Brenda Harrison said aid will be awarded based on need to both benefit recipients and low-income workers
