Hartford Police Seek Cybertruck Driver After Christmas Crash Kills 14-Year-Old

Detectives are seeking tips to identify a non-owner who borrowed the truck.

Overview

  • Police say a Tesla Cybertruck and a Toyota Camry collided head-on around 9:20 p.m. on Christmas on Cornwall Street just south of Hebron Street in Hartford.
  • Four people in the Camry—an adult, two teenagers, and a child—were extricated and taken to a hospital, where a 14-year-old passenger was pronounced dead.
  • Three other occupants suffered serious injuries, according to Hartford police and fire officials.
  • The Cybertruck driver fled on foot and remained unaccounted for, and police said they are making progress in identifying him.
  • Investigators say the driver was not the vehicle’s owner, and they report speed appears to be a factor as they review possible impairment; anyone with information is asked to call 860-722-TIPS (8477).
