Overview

• Deputies and Georgia State Patrol responded around 2:26 p.m. to the Idle Hour Boat Ramp area after an inmate walked off a supervised work detail.
• A perimeter was established along Mountain Drive and Lick Skillet Road as a Code Red alert went out and nearby schools were placed on lockdown.
• At about 2:47 p.m., a citizen reported a naked man flagging down vehicles on Lick Skillet Road and alerted a nearby deputy.
• The individual was confirmed as the escaped work-camp inmate and was taken into custody without further incident.
• He was transported back to the Harris County prison camp and turned over to staff, and officials publicly thanked the reporting citizen.
