Harlem Assemblymember Eddie Gibbs Arrested by NYPD

Eddie Gibbs, the first formerly incarcerated New York state assemblymember, was detained following a traffic stop incident in East Harlem.

Gibbs was arrested after approaching a vehicle stopped by police for a broken tail light in East Harlem.
The incident occurred on Lexington Avenue near East 115th Street, involving Gibbs' brother as the driver.
Gibbs was charged with disorderly conduct after refusing police requests to step back onto the sidewalk.
He was taken to the NYPD's 25th Precinct and released with a summons later in the afternoon.
Gibbs, who has a history of legal issues, was elected to the Assembly in 2022, representing the 68th District.
