Hardik Singh Pledges Asia Cup Earnings To Rebuild Home for Punjab Flood-Hit Family

The India vice-captain moved through a local NGO to support a Ramdas household after severe rains devastated large parts of the state.

Overview

  • Singh has adopted Gurshan Singh’s family of four in Ramdas and committed his Asia Cup prize money and win bonuses to rebuilding their house.
  • The support includes covering construction and buying essentials such as furniture, fans and a television, with delivery planned but not yet completed.
  • He was connected to the household by the NGO Initiators of Change and traveled over 100 km from Jalandhar to meet them.
  • On his first visit he found the family living in a tent roughly 60 meters from the site of their destroyed home as the father performed seva elsewhere.
  • State officials report at least 52 deaths and damage across more than 2,000 villages from the floods, which followed India’s Asia Cup victory with Singh as vice-captain.
