Overview
- Harav Avrohom Gurwitz died this morning at 87, and his funeral is set for 3:00 PM at Yeshivas Ner Moshe in Givat Shaul followed by burial on Har Hazeisim.
- He served as rosh yeshiva of Ner Moshe from its founding in 1984, growing the student body from around thirty to a premier center of Torah learning.
- He authored twenty-three seforim, including the acclaimed Or Avrohom series on Shas and works on Chumash, the Megillot, the Rambam, tefillah and Sefer HaMitzvot.
- A talmid muvhak of Rav Shach, he learned at Yeshivas Chaim Berlin and Ponovezh before returning to America to establish draft-avoidance yeshivas and later teach at Yeshivas Itri and Mishkan HaTorah.
- He was revered for his deep humility, strict kashrus standards and personal devotion to his talmidim, qualities that defined Ner Moshe’s warm and rigorous environment.
