Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Convicted in 'Rust' Shooting, Sentencing Set for April 15

The armorer found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins will be sentenced next month, with Alec Baldwin's trial to follow in July.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the 'Rust' movie armorer, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during a rehearsal in October 2021.
Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer has scheduled Gutierrez-Reed's sentencing for April 15, following a two-week trial.
Gutierrez-Reed faces up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine; she is currently being held at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility pending sentencing.
Alec Baldwin, who was holding the gun when it discharged, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza, has pleaded not guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge with his trial set for July.
Prosecutors argued Gutierrez-Reed's negligence in handling live ammunition and failure to follow gun-safety protocols led to the tragic incident. Gutierrez-Reed plans to appeal the conviction.
