Hamster Releases TAITO’s Exzisus on Modern Consoles

Hamster's re-release adds Time Attack mode, variable refresh rate support, a low-cost upgrade path, modern convenience features.

Overview

  • Hamster launched the digital reissue of TAITO’s 1987 shooter Exzisus on Thursday, November 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 as Arcade Archives 2 and for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as Arcade Archives.
  • The Arcade Archives 2 edition is priced at $9.99 (¥1,100) and the standard Arcade Archives edition at $7.99 (¥837), with a $2.99 (¥330) upgrade available from the latter to Arcade Archives 2.
  • Arcade Archives 2 introduces a Time Attack mode focused on fastest clears and adds VRR (variable refresh rate) support to better match original arcade timing for modern displays.
  • Both Arcade Archives tiers keep ACA staples such as Original, Hi Score and Caravan modes, rewind, multiple save slots, button remapping, rapid-fire and online leaderboards to blend authenticity with modern convenience.
  • The release preserves Exzisus’s core design—players control Cosmo Fighter Robin, collect power-ups to transform or summon robotic allies and target boss weak points—and continues Hamster’s practice of multilingual manuals and global digital availability to broaden access to classic arcade titles.
