Overview

• The award ceremony on July 26 at Cooperstown’s Alice Busch Opera Theater marked Hamilton’s official induction as the 49th Ford C. Frick Award recipient and was broadcast live across MLB Network, MLB.TV, MLB.com and the MLB App.
• Hamilton earned the honor after 35 years as the Guardians’ broadcaster, during which he called three Cleveland World Series teams, more than 100 postseason games and won seven Ohio Sportscaster of the Year awards.
• In a humor-filled address, Hamilton recalled his start with a three-hour play-by-play at a Wisconsin 4H fair and paid tribute to mentor Herb Score for guiding his early career.
• Former Guardians managers Terry Francona and Stephen Vogt praised Hamilton’s vivid play-by-play, infectious energy and ability to make listeners feel like they were in the ballpark.
• Cooperstown festivities included a Legends Parade down Main Street and media sessions ahead of Sunday’s enshrinement of baseball icons at the Clark Sports Complex.
