Overview

  • The installation marks the latest phase of a €13 million overhaul launched in March 2024 to narrow vehicle lanes, plant trees and expand space for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Traffic on Jungfernstieg has been restricted since October 2020 to buses, taxis, delivery vehicles and cyclists to enhance promenade safety
  • Protective bollards and new benches are scheduled for installation by year-end to bolster security against potential terror threats
