Hamburg Launches After-Hours Parking Pilot at Lidl Hamm on Jan. 19

The yearlong trial will measure if QR‑code bookings at €3 per night ease a local shortage enough to warrant expansion.

Overview

  • Ten of roughly 60 spaces at Lidl on Carl-Petersen-Straße will be bookable nightly from 18:00 to 08:00 via Wemolo’s QR-code system.
  • Pricing is €3 per night, €12 per week, or €30 per month, with fees funding monitoring and enforcement of time limits by Wemolo.
  • The pilot targets pressure created by the street’s recent redesign into a green pedestrian zone, which reduced on-street parking.
  • Transport senator Anjes Tjarks backs the test, CDU’s Richard Seelmaecker urges an app-driven rollout, and Lidl’s André von Lührmann says more spaces could be added if uptake is strong.
  • Hamburg’s move follows Düsseldorf’s model with about 2,000 spaces at 21 sites, and complements three existing Edeka after-hours offers in Hamburg already run through Wemolo.
