Hamburg AfD Lawmaker Identified at Kremlin-Linked Far-Right Summit in St. Petersburg

Party officials have launched an internal review after reports placed Robert Risch at the event.

Overview

  • Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty matched event photos to Robert Risch with a reported 99% computer face-match, placing him at the Sept. 12 founding meeting of the “International Anti-Globalists League.”
  • The AfD’s Hamburg faction says the trip was not coordinated with the party and it will investigate and consider consequences.
  • CDU official Dennis Gladiator called for Risch’s expulsion from AfD caucuses and for him to relinquish his mandates, as the Left faction also pressed for repercussions.
  • The St. Petersburg gathering at the Mariinsky Palace was promoted by sanctioned Kremlin-linked financier Konstantin Malofeyev, with ideologue Alexander Dugin present and more than 50 delegates from roughly 15 countries.
  • Former Hamburg AfD member Olga Petersen also attended, and Risch has not responded to media inquiries.
