Halle Bailey Cast in New Pharrell Williams and Michel Gondry Musical

The rising star joins a stellar cast for a coming-of-age story set in 1977 Virginia Beach, inspired by Williams' childhood neighborhood.

Halle Bailey, known for her roles in 'The Little Mermaid' and 'The Color Purple,' has joined the cast of an upcoming musical by Pharrell Williams and Michel Gondry.
The musical, set in the summer of 1977, is inspired by the Atlantis Apartments in Virginia Beach, where Williams grew up.
Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Da’Vine Joy Randolph are also cast in the film, which is being produced by Williams and directed by Gondry.
In addition to her acting career, Bailey has recently released a new solo single, 'In Your Hands,' and continues to gain recognition as a solo artist.
The project marks a continued interest in musical films, following the success of other recent musicals like 'Mean Girls' and 'Wonka.'
