Overview

  • Notices issued May 28 withdrew permission for camping at the Geary Street green space and set the site’s closure for June 22.
  • Occupants must remove tents and personal belongings by 5 p.m. on June 22 or face arrest under Nova Scotia’s Protection of Property Act.
  • The municipality will transport residents and their possessions to provincially funded indoor shelters or other HRM-designated locations.
  • Any items left behind after removal will be stored for 30 days and then disposed of if unclaimed or contaminated.
  • Officials observed only four tents at the site, making it the least utilized among Halifax’s designated homeless encampments.
