Hale County Student, 16, Dies After Being Struck on Alabama 69 as ALEA Names 76-Year-Old Driver

The collision happened around 6:40 p.m. Sunday on Alabama 69 about 12 miles south of Tuscaloosa.
ALEA reported the pedestrian was hit by a Ford F-150 driven by Warner L. Rainer, 76, of Tuscaloosa.
The teenager was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the victim's identity or announced any charges, with the investigation continuing.
The principal called the sophomore a beloved member of the school community and said support staff were available, with tributes noting plans for Friday night lights during Homecoming Week.
