HAL Signs $1 Billion Deal With GE for 113 F404 Engines for Tejas Mk1A

Overview

  • HAL said the engines and support package will be delivered from 2027 through 2032 for the 97-aircraft Mk1A order placed in September.
  • With this agreement, total F404 engines ordered for the Tejas Mk1A programme rise to 212, including 99 contracted in 2021.
  • The earlier 99-engine tranche has faced significant delays, with only four units delivered so far as GE cites supply‑chain constraints.
