HAL and Safran Sign Contract to Co‑Develop Aravalli Turboshaft Engine

Overview

  • The contract was signed on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in a ceremony attended by HAL chairman Ravi K and Safran CEO Cédric Goubet and executed by Ajay Kumar Shrivastava and Olivier Savin.
  • The new engine, named Aravalli, is reported to be a 3,500–4,000 shaft‑horsepower class turboshaft intended to power HAL’s 13‑tonne Indian Multi‑Role Helicopter (IMRH) and its naval Deck‑Based Multi‑Role Helicopter (DBMRH).
