Hackers Probe Unpatched Oracle EBS Flaw Days After Patch

Unauthenticated HTTP requests can inject SQL that chains to remote code execution on exposed E-Business Suite servers.

Overview

  • Oracle published a fix for CVE-2026-101767 in its October 20 Critical Patch Update and urged customers to apply the update immediately.
  • The flaw is an unauthenticated SQL injection in the Application Object Library Thin Client Framework servlet that can run SQL as the APPS database user and then execute operating-system commands as the EBS application account.
  • Threat intelligence decoys recorded exploratory exploit attempts on Oct. 27 and security trackers report hundreds of internet-exposed EBS instances, showing attackers quickly began scanning for unpatched systems.
  • There are no confirmed reports of widespread successful breaches tied to this CVE yet but past campaigns that exploited Oracle EBS make unpatched instances high-value targets for ransomware and data extortion.
  • Security teams should prioritize patching, inventory internet-facing EBS deployments, restrict access to the vulnerable servlet, monitor hosts and databases for the listed indicators of compromise, and apply temporary mitigations if they cannot patch immediately.
