Habib Beye Appointed as New Stade Rennais Head Coach

The former Red Star coach replaces Jorge Sampaoli, who was dismissed after a disappointing tenure, as Rennes fights to avoid relegation in Ligue 1.

Habib Beye, 47, has signed a six-month contract with Stade Rennais, with an option for an additional year contingent on the team’s Ligue 1 survival.
The club announced the dismissal of Jorge Sampaoli, who managed only three wins in 10 matches, leaving Rennes in 16th place and in the relegation zone.
Beye, previously a coach at Red Star and a Canal+ analyst, led Red Star to promotion to Ligue 2 last season but has been without a club since.
He becomes the fourth coach for Stade Rennais this season, following Julien Stéphan, interim Sébastien Tambouret, and Sampaoli.
Beye will be officially presented to the media on Friday, ahead of Rennes’ home match against Strasbourg on Sunday.
