Overview

  • The two-day TPC test on August 6–7 at Fuji Speedway features reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa on day one and marks Sho Tsuboi’s first Formula 1 run as an “audition” on day two.
  • Toyota director Masaya Kaji has characterised Tsuboi’s appearance as a performance evaluation rather than a reward for his Super Formula title.
  • Tickets cost 1,200 yen for adults and 900 yen for high school students, with free admission for junior high pupils and younger.
  • Spectators gain free pitlane access, autograph sessions, end-of-day Q&As and can opt for VIP grandstand seating or a paid personal car lapping session during the lunch break.
  • The VF-23 chassis is deployed under Haas’s Testing of Previous Cars programme to provide Toyota engineers and mechanics with hands-on F1 operational training.
