H100 Group Posts SEK 98.2M Q2 Loss After Bitcoin Write-Downs
Non-cash impairments tied to lower BTC prices drove the loss and raise questions about managing a much larger, share-funded Bitcoin treasury.
Overview
- H100 disclosed a SEK 98.2 million pre-tax loss for the second quarter in interim results published Wednesday, saying almost all of the charge was a non-cash write-down tied to Bitcoin’s price decline.
- The company completed an all-share acquisition on Aug. 10 that added about 2,455 BTC and increased H100’s total holdings to roughly 3,506 BTC, making it one of Europe’s largest listed Bitcoin treasuries.
- H100 funded the Norwegian deal by issuing about 790.5 million new shares at SEK 1.86 per share, a move that preserved cash but materially enlarged the company’s outstanding share count.
- Operational cash use remained small compared with the headline loss, with the business consuming about −SEK 5.1 million in Q2, −SEK 12.7 million for the half year, and holding SEK 18.1 million in cash at June-end.
- Leadership changes after the transaction and the heavier reliance on Bitcoin mean H100 must now focus on integrating acquisitions, setting clear capital-allocation rules, and managing earnings volatility that stems from crypto price swings.
