Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has suggested the only factor that might lead her back to acting is a project with Robert Downey Jr., her long-time Marvel colleague and friend.
Paltrow and Downey Jr. have starred in several Marvel films together, sharing a close friendship on and off screen. Downey Jr.'s influence was a key factor in Paltrow taking on the role of Pepper Potts in the Iron Man and Avengers franchises.
Robert Downey Jr. played the lead role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark / Iron Man from 2008 to 2019. After his character's demise in Avengers: Endgame, Paltrow retired from the franchise as well. She noted that her character would not have a purpose in the universe without Tony Stark.
Now focused on her lifestyle and wellness brand, Goop, Paltrow stepped back from acting several years ago. Despite spending less time on screen, she has found success in the business world, saying that Goop has grown beyond her expectations and that she is excited about its future.
Paltrow stated that her friend and MCU costar Robert Downey Jr. has the ability to potentially persuade her to return to acting, although currently, she finds it challenging due to her commitments as CEO of Goop.
