GWM Signs Deal for Second Brazil Plant in Espírito Santo to Build Electric Vehicles

State leaders frame the project as a move to elevate Espírito Santo’s industrial base.

Overview

  • The commitment was signed on January 14 in China by Espírito Santo vice-governor Ricardo Ferraço and Great Wall Motors representatives.
  • Governor Renato Casagrande said the planned facility will be located in Aracruz within the ParkLog development in the state’s north.
  • GWM described the new unit as an electric-car production plant.
  • The company said it has no official information yet on the planned factory’s production capacity or expected number of jobs.
  • The initiative fits into GWM’s roughly R$10 billion, decade-long Brazil plan and follows its Iracemápolis plant opened in August 2025 with about 600 employees and capacity for 50,000 vehicles a year.
