Overview

• The incident began when SI Prashant Sharma allegedly shattered a parked car’s rear window and drove off with two youths clinging to his Mercedes bonnet for nearly 500 metres during VIP convoy preparations.
• CCTV and viral videos show Sharma braking abruptly, throwing one victim onto the road and causing hand injuries as bystanders chased the vehicle.
• Director General of Police Kailash Makwana ordered Sharma’s suspension last night and IG Arvind Saxena acknowledged that prima facie it was the sub-inspector’s misconduct.
