• The 71st National Film Awards for films released in 2023 were unveiled on August 1 at New Delhi’s National Media Centre after the jury submitted its report to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
• GV Prakash Kumar earned Best Music Director for Vaathi, marking his second national award since winning for Soorarai Pottru.
• In a statement on X, he thanked the jury, actor Dhanush, director Venky Atluri, producers Naga Vamsi and Trivikram Srinivas, as well as his musicians, technicians and fans.
• Vaathi, produced by Sithara Entertainments, stars Dhanush as a 1990s rural teacher opposing education privatization and features Samyuktha Menon.
