Guwahati Sets Traffic Curbs as Post Malone Show Debuts Assam’s Concert Tourism Policy

Officials call it the first test of a public–private tourism strategy with BookMyShow.

Overview

  • Assam Police announced concert-day restrictions with commercial and slow-moving vehicles limited from 10 am and small vehicles regulated from 3 pm around Khanapara, exempting emergency services, school buses and local residents.
  • Designated parking has been arranged for 3,000 cars and 1,200 two-wheelers, with no-parking zones marked on key stretches including GS Road from Sixmile to Khanapara.
  • Entry to the Veterinary College playground will begin at 3:30 pm, with bags and water bottles barred inside and multiple free drinking water points and waste bins provided on site.
  • Authorities plan for 20,000–22,000 attendees at the Khanapara venue and expect significant out-of-state travel by concertgoers.
  • The event launches the state’s Concert Tourism Policy adopted in May, delivered with Bigtree/BookMyShow, and organisers say preparations for the five-hour show are complete with traffic updates to be shared by Guwahati Traffic Police.
