Overview

• Gusts of 20–40+ mph are forecast across New Mexico and southern Colorado due to a nearby Four Corners low and a cold front near Albuquerque.
• The National Weather Service has a Wind Advisory from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for parts of Colfax, Union and Mora Counties with gusts up to about 50 mph.
• Stronger winds aloft could restrict safe balloon altitudes even if surface breezes appear manageable at launch.
• Winds are projected to diminish after sunset with Sunday morning breezes near 5 mph, making a mass ascension likely.
• A Freeze Warning is in effect early Sunday for the San Luis Valley with a Freeze Watch for the Upper Rio Grande Valley, and rain chances are expected to return early next week.
