Gusmão's Party Wins East Timor Election, Looks Set to Return as Prime Minister

According to state media, former Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão's opposition party won the most votes in East Timor's parliamentary election.
Gusmão's party, the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction, won about 42% of the vote.
Current Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak's party came in second with 26% of the vote.
The election was billed as a battle between Gusmão and Fretilin's Mari Alkatiri, the current opposition leader.
The newly formed parliament will now choose East Timor's next prime minister.
