Gurugram Shootout Nets Two Bambiha Suspects as Punjab Police Seize Six Pistols

Intelligence-led raids targeted alleged Bambiha operatives across Haryana and Punjab to disrupt gun flows.

Overview

  • Gurugram crime-branch teams intercepted two suspected Bambiha sharpshooters near Maidawas/Ramgarh after a 2 a.m. tip, drawing fire from the duo before returning four rounds and wounding both in the legs.
  • Police identified the men as Sumit Sharma and Sukhmanjit Singh alias Ganja from Amritsar, recovering two country-made pistols, two live cartridges and more than ten empty shells at the scene.
  • An FIR for attempt to murder and illegal arms possession under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act was registered at Sector-65; the injured suspects remain in hospital and will be formally arrested after discharge.
  • In a separate AGTF-Barnala operation, Punjab Police arrested Sandeep Singh and Shekhar, impounded a car, and seized six pistols — one PX5, one .30 bore and four .32 bore — along with 19 live cartridges.
  • Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary findings point to directions from foreign-based handlers, with investigators pursuing backward and forward linkages and signaling the likelihood of further arrests.
