Overview
- A video that surfaced on social media in late July showed a Rajasthan-born excavator operator hung upside down and beaten at a construction site in Gurugram’s Sector 38.
- On July 29, Gurugram Police registered a suo motu FIR under Sections 115, 127(2), 3(5) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, covering attempted offence, wrongful confinement, organised crime and grievous assault.
- Four suspects—security guards Pushpendra, Ajit Singh, Krishna Kumar and Amit Kumar—were arrested within hours of the FIR coming into effect.
- Officers have not yet located the victim and are making efforts to record his statement as part of the ongoing inquiry.
- Investigators are examining allegations that the prime suspect’s ties to a Haryana Union minister hindered initial law enforcement response.
