The FIR cites violations such as disobeying a public servant's order, concealing an offender, and destruction of evidence.
Police initially requested information from WhatsApp on July 17 and reiterated their demands on July 25 and August 23, but received objections and rejections.
WhatsApp claims it only discloses account information in accordance with its terms of service and applicable laws, emphasizing human rights and due process.
Ten individuals have already been arrested in connection with the fraud case, but the investigation has been hampered by WhatsApp's non-cooperation.
