Gurugram Police Arrest Lawyer and Two Women in Alleged Honey-Trap Extortion of 67-Year-Old

Police are reviewing call recordings to assess possible links to a wider racket.

Overview

  • An FIR was registered on August 28 under BNS provisions for extortion and criminal conspiracy after a complaint that a senior citizen in Palam Vihar was coerced for money.
  • The suspects are Asha Verma, 47, from Delhi; Kanchan (also reported as Kanchan Kumari/Kritika), 24, from Rohtak; and a lawyer identified as Kuldeep, 40, from Bhiwani.
  • According to police and the FIR, the trio befriended the man via missed calls, one woman initiated intimacy, and threats followed to file a rape case if he did not pay; a sexual-assault complaint was lodged on June 18.
  • The family says the case was fabricated, submitted call recordings to police and the state women’s commission, and alleges demands that started at ₹10 lakh and were negotiated to ₹6.5 lakh, including an audio handed over on July 21.
  • Police say the three were arrested on Friday and Saturday, produced in court, and sent to judicial custody, and they are probing other potential members as reports list the lawyer as Kuldeep Malik or Kuldeep Singh.
