Gurugram PG Shooting: Police Say Suspect Bought ₹11,000 Pistol and Planned Murder-Suicide

Vipin Kumar is in three-day police custody after an auto-lock at the paying guest facility trapped him for a quick arrest.

Overview

  • Investigators said the 31-year-old told them he purchased a country-made pistol and four cartridges in Jaunpur for ₹11,000 and intended to kill the woman and then himself.
  • The woman, identified as Shivangi Tiwari, suffered a shoulder wound at her Dundahera PG on Thursday morning and is reported to be stable at Civil Hospital.
  • Police said the motive stemmed from a rejected marriage proposal about two weeks earlier after which the woman cut off contact.
  • An auto-locking door at the PG trapped the accused, and officers from nearby Udyog Vihar police station arrived within minutes to arrest him and recover the pistol and an empty cartridge.
  • An attempt-to-murder case with Arms Act charges has been registered, and police are pursuing the alleged weapon supplier named by the accused.
