Overview

• Police recovered a decomposed, beheaded body on August 28 near an abandoned warehouse about 1.5 km from the man’s home in Mohammadpur Jharsa.
• Sandeep Kumar filed a missing-person report on September 1 and identified the mortuary body by clothing and a right‑leg injury mark before the family conducted last rites at Ram Bagh.
• An autopsy confirmed homicide, and forensic teams preserved DNA samples before the body was released to the family under standard identification procedures.
• The next day, a maternal uncle spotted Poojan Prasad alive at Khandsa labour chowk and brought him home, where he told police he had been sleeping at chowks and construction sites due to intoxication.
• A murder case has been registered against unknown persons at Sector 37 police station, and investigators will use the stored DNA to ascertain who was killed.
