Gurnee Man Arrested After Multiple Hit-and-Run Crashes, Police Chase

  • A 34-year-old Gurnee man allegedly struck vehicles near a Grandwood Drive gas station shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday and fled the scene.
  • Deputies pursued the suspect across several roads, including Stearns Road and Route 21, after he sideswiped vehicles at Stearns and Hunt Club Road.
  • At the intersection of Route 21 and Gages Lake Road, the suspect ran a red light and T-boned a vehicle carrying four occupants, two of whom were children, all with non-life-threatening injuries.
  • A deputy disabled the suspect’s vehicle using a squad car to end the chase, and the driver was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.
  • The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and the sheriff’s technical investigations unit are probing the incidents and charges against the suspect remain pending.
