Guntur Police Arrest 11, Seize 4.4 Kg of Ganja in Twin Raids

Police trace the caches to ArakuOdisha sources tied to a supplier in remand.

Overview

  • Six suspects were detained on January 9 at a vacant plot behind the Irrigation Department office in Ankamma Nagar, where police seized 1.2 kg of ganja.
  • Five more were held later the same night near the Subrahmanyeswara Swamy temple on VIP Road with 3.2 kg, and police say the group had pooled money to buy the contraband and was dividing it.
  • Investigators said one ring received supplies through Gumma Sai, who is in remand at Arundelpet police station, with the contraband allegedly sourced from Odisha.
  • Police said the accused had planned sales to raise funds for the in-remand supplier’s legal and bail expenses, and reported prior records for several suspects including NDPS, POCSO and theft cases.
  • SP Vakul Jindal said the actions form part of a three‑month NDPS drive that logged 46 cases, 217 arrests and 78 kg of ganja, liquid ganja and MDMA seized.
