Overview

  • Marco Pusceddu, a 51-year-old emergency responder from Portoscuso, was shot multiple times at close range inside the 118 Intervol headquarters in Buddusò around 23:00 on August 7 after the assailant asked for him by name.
  • Carabinieri units from Ozieri and the Sassari provincial command under magistrate coordination have expanded a Sardinia-wide search but have not yet identified or apprehended the perpetrator.
  • The Sassari prosecutor’s office led by PM Elisa Succu has ordered an autopsy and investigators are probing links between the killing and a serious head injury Pusceddu suffered in a prior assault.
  • Witnesses heard at least four or five shots before the gunman fled on foot and may have escaped by car with possible assistance, and investigators are reconstructing his route using nearby security cameras.
  • Pusceddu had been stationed at the rural Buddusò base for just one month, raising questions about security protocols for first responders in remote areas.
