Overview
- Gujarat’s per capita income reached ₹3,00,957 for 2023–24, higher than Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, with only Karnataka and Tamil Nadu slightly ahead, the state government said.
- With a 2023–24 GSDP of ₹24.62 lakh crore, Gujarat ranks among India’s five largest state economies after Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
- The government cited an 8.42% average real growth rate from 2012–13 to 2023–24, outpacing Karnataka at 7.69% and Tamil Nadu at 6.29%.
- Manufacturing contributed ₹7.43 lakh crore in 2023–24, while the tertiary sector contributed ₹7.81 lakh crore, construction and utilities topped ₹2.31 lakh crore, and agriculture, forestry and fishing added ₹3.69 lakh crore.
- GSDP at basic prices rose nearly four-fold from ₹6.16 lakh crore in 2011–12 to ₹24.62 lakh crore in 2023–24, according to the official Gujarat government release.
