Gujarat Hits 5 Lakh Rooftop Solar Installations, Leads India at 1,879 MW

  • Gujarat reports reaching 50% of its 10 lakh residential rooftop target set for March 2027.
  • Residential consumers have availed Rs 3,778 crore in support under the rooftop programme.
  • The subsidy design offers Rs 30,000 per kW up to 2 kW, Rs 18,000 per kW for 2–3 kW, with a Rs 78,000 cap above 3 kW.
  • Consumer-friendly steps include Rs 2,950 assistance for regulatory charges up to 6 kW, waived network strengthening charges in that band, no mandatory net metering agreement, no residential load cap, the ability to sell surplus power, and no banking charges.
  • The rollout is aligned with PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojna and will be showcased at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot from January 10.
