Gujarat High Court Launches Contempt Action Over Virtual Hearing Toilet Video

The court is demanding technological measures to prevent misbehavior in livestreamed hearings.

  • Justices Supehia and Vachhani ordered the immediate deletion of the viral video they said had tarnished the court’s image.
  • The court directed its Registrar of Information Technology to propose technical safeguards to block disruptive participants in livestreamed proceedings.
  • Earlier in March, the Gujarat High Court fined another litigant Rs 2 lakh and imposed community service for similar virtual court misconduct.
