Gujarat Detains Five Repeat Narco-Offenders Under PIT NDPS

- Gujarat Police, which carried out coordinated detentions Friday, held five people under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and took the 2026 total to 21.

- Detention orders came from DGP (CID Crime) Dr K.L.N. Rao and were executed by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and CID Crime teams.
- Police named the detainees as Babu Ninama, Ishwar alias Hendal Salat, Manojgiri Goswami, Wahid Panja and Imran Belim, identifying home towns in Aravalli, Banaskantha, Navsari, Junagadh and Rajkot.
- Officials said all five had earlier NDPS arrests while on bail, and the PIT NDPS law allows up to two years of preventive custody to stop the sale, purchase, transport or storage of narcotics, with the state reporting 86 such detentions in 2025 under its zero-tolerance drive.
