Gujarat Bullet Train Stations Nearing Completion as Tunnel and Bridge Works Advance

Indian Railways says eight Gujarat stations have moved from structural completion to interior fit-outs, signaling a pivot toward systems work on the 508 km corridor.

Overview

  • NHSRCL reports structural completion at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora and Vapi, with interiors, roofing and passenger amenities now being installed.
  • Railways shared first-look images of the Gujarat stations featuring solar panels, skylights, rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment, step-free access and multimodal links at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Sabarmati and Surat.
  • About 4.5 km of the 21 km BKC–Shilphata tunnel has been excavated using NATM, while work on seven mountain tunnels in Palghar is underway with roughly 2 km completed.
  • Bridge and corridor works continue with the 80 m Vishwamitri River bridge completed as the 17th of 21 in Gujarat, alongside 317 km of viaduct built, around 198 track km of bed laid, roughly 3.9 lakh noise-barrier panels installed over 195 km and more than 1,600 OHE masts erected over about 40 km.
  • Officials reiterate a 320 km/h design with a roughly 2 hours 7 minutes end-to-end journey time, with trial activity and phased openings guided by plans for 2026–2028 as India’s ambassador to Japan expresses an expectation of a train running by 2027.
