Gujarat Bullet Train Stations Enter Fit-Out as MumbaiAhmedabad Line Logs Fresh Tunnel Progress

Latest site reports show work moving from station shells to interiors, tunneling, and systems installation across the 508 km corridor.

  • Indian Railways shared new images confirming eight Gujarat stations—Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi—have completed structural work and are now in finishing phases.
  • Station designs emphasize sustainability and passenger convenience, with solar panels, rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plants, natural lighting, lifts and escalators, lounges, and multimodal integration at key hubs.
  • NHSRCL says around 4.5 km of the 21 km BKCShilphata tunnel has been excavated, with additional advances on Palghar mountain tunnels and systems work including roughly 198 track km, over 1,600 OHE masts across about 40 km, and about 3.9 lakh noise-barrier panels over nearly 195 km.
  • The 80-metre Vishwamitri River bridge in Vadodara is complete, marking the 17th of 21 river bridges in Gujarat on the route.
  • The 508 km Shinkansen-based line is planned for a 2-hour-7-minute journey with 12 stations, and officials have suggested service could begin in 2027, though formal start dates and fares have not been announced.
