Overview

  • Four alleged AQIS operatives—Mohammad Faiq Rizwan, Mohammad Fardeen Rais, Saifullah Qureshi Rafiq and Zeeshan Ali—were arrested from Ahmedabad, Delhi and Noida and remanded for 14 days.
  • The probe began after a June 10 tip on suspicious Instagram accounts led Gujarat ATS to uncover a digital network spreading pro-al-Qaeda content via auto-delete apps.
  • Authorities seized encrypted social-media data, Operation Sindoor documents, jihadist literature and a ceremonial sword during simultaneous raids.
  • Investigators found links between the Delhi-based suspect and Pakistan-based handlers who supplied jihadi materials and plotted attacks on democratic institutions.
  • A formal case has been filed under multiple UAPA provisions and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as probes continue into additional module members.
