Overview
- The ATS detained Hyderabad-based Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed and Uttar Pradesh natives Mohd Suhel and Azad Suleman Sheikh after a year of surveillance, intercepting them near the Adalaj toll plaza and in Banaskantha.
- Officers recovered two Glock pistols, one Beretta, 30 live cartridges and about four litres of castor oil, with the ATS alleging an attempt to prepare the toxin ricin.
- Investigators say Saiyed was in contact with a Telegram user identified as Abu Khadija, alleged to be linked to ISKP, and the suspects claimed arms were ferried by drones across the Pakistan border; these assertions are under verification.
- Police traced the supply chain to Hanumangarh in Rajasthan with a drop in Kalol, and officials say the accused conducted reconnaissance in crowded areas of Lucknow, Delhi and Ahmedabad, with movements also noted in Kashmir.
- Cases have been registered under the UAPA, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act; a court remanded Saiyed to ATS custody until November 17 as inter‑state and international leads are pursued.
