Guillermo del Toro was attached to direct a Star Wars film written by David Goyer around four years ago that never materialized.
Goyer hinted the film focused on Jabba the Hutt and featured unique creatures and practical effects.
Del Toro confirmed the project's existence but provided no details beyond alluding to "J" and "BB."
Goyer also wrote an unproduced script about the origins of the Jedi Order 25,000 years before the main films.
The shelving came during a tumultuous time for Lucasfilm as it struggled to find a new direction after the Sequel Trilogy.
